UK-based active asset manager Jupiter Asset Management announced today the appointment of Sandra Carlisle to the newly created position of Head of Sustainability. In her new role, Carlisle will be responsible for leading Jupiter’s new Corporate Sustainability function, and structuring and implementing its sustainability strategy across the organization.

Carlisle joins the company from HSBC Asset Management, where she most recently served as Global ESG lead for the institutional business, covering client and business strategy across insurance, sovereign wealth, and pension funds. Within the company, she also took part in the launch of several ESG and impact funds and chaired the HSBC Asset Management Climate Business Council. Prior to HSBC, she was Head of Responsible Investment at Newton Investment Management and has previously served as a Board member of the UN PRI.

Andrew Formica, Jupiter CEO, said:

“Sandra’s appointment signals our desire to continue to build and deliver a competitive and compelling offering in this crucially important area. As a pioneer in responsible investing and with an established track record of engaged and effective stewardship, we are focused as a business on maintaining our distinctive leadership position, always with our clients’ best interests at our heart.”

Jupiter’s new Corporate Sustainability team will implement and drive the firm’s sustainability strategy across the corporate and investment footprint, partnering with all business areas to further integrate sustainability, drive engagement with clients, collaborate with external bodies, support best practice outcomes at an industry level, and develop additional targets and reporting to support Jupiter’s strategy.

Formica added:

“I am very proud of what we have achieved to date and look forward to Sandra’s arrival and an exciting path ahead as the Corporate Sustainability team take us to the next level of further integrating our core principles throughout the business.”
